Barney Miller's approach is gentle but firm and the way the precinct deals with complex sociological problems whilst each character dealing with their own is wonderful as well as being funny. It is not exactly P.C. in the light of modern values but nevertheless sensitive issues are dealt with sympathy without being judgemental , even for the times. Barney Miller was one of my favorite sitcoms of the 70's along with Sanford and Son and Taxi. I used to watch this hilarious show with my mom and dad and we would laugh our heads off at his antics and jokes perpetrated by Barney (Hal Linden). The Captain of the 12th Precinct and his staff handle the various local troubles and characters that come into the building. Barney Miller. I grew up watching Barney Miller. It was (and still is) one of the best comedies that I've ever seen. I have no dislikes about the show, my only dislike is the package, instead of the disc (4 of them) being seperate, they were all piled on top of each other, they can easily be scratched.
