The Africa Cup of Nations (French: Coupe d'Afrique des Nations) is the men's football tournament contested by the member associations of the Confederation of African Football (CAN). Often referred to as AFCON or CAN, the competition was created in 1957 and has been held every two years since 1968. Despite the change in date for the Nations cup, host country, Cameroon retains the hosting rights. CAF also cancelled the 2020 African Women’s Cup of Nations and approved the creation of the first-ever African Women’s Champions League. This means the continental women’s showpiece, which was slated for November, will not take place.
